Get into Governance

18th September 2023

Are you searching for a meaningful way to contribute to your local community?

Becoming a school governor is an exceptional way to make a lasting impact on the lives of young learners.

Whether you are a parent, former pupil, local resident or employee of a local business, it is highly likely that you will have something positive to contribute to the future of our young learners by becoming a governor.

At our event on Wednesday 11 October, you will get the opportunity to discover how becoming a governor at a primary, secondary or special school can be a transformative experience, offering personal growth, professional development, and the satisfaction of positively shaping the local educational landscape.

Learning Partners Academy Trust, based in Guildford, with 13 schools across Surrey is keen to recruit people from across the school communities and to provide the opportunity to learn and understand the value of becoming a governor. At Learning Partners, we are committed to ensuring that our schools play an active and meaningful role within their communities and wholly believe that it is critical that our governors represent the local community, in all its richness and diversity.

As a school governor, you become an advocate for the students and their families in your community. By actively participating in school decision-making processes, you will influence policies and strategies that directly impact young learners' education, well-being, and future prospects. Your guidance and support of the headteacher and their leadership team will in turn help to inspire students, foster their growth, and create a nurturing environment that enables their success.

Serving as a school governor also provides an excellent platform for honing and developing your own leadership skills. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside other experienced professionals, enriching your personal and professional development whilst at the same time helping to ensure young people receive the best start in life.

Come along to our event on Wednesday 11 October at 6.30pm - 7.30pm at Kings College Guildford, Southway, Guildford, GU2 8DU to listen to the experiences of those already in a governance role and learn why you should become a governor.  Click on the following link to sign up: https://forms.office.com/e/RjQjanTk7M.  We hope to see you there.
